Being able to enjoy the beach with your dog is an amazing feeling. The sun, the sand and your pup at your side. It doesn’t get much better than that! Rules are always changing so be sure to check signs around the beach for any notices.
If you live in Tampa or are planning a trip to this sunny city, then be sure to check out these dog friendly beaches:
Davis Island Dog Beach is a great place to go if you want your dog to be able to play and swim in the water. This beach is located on the southern tip of Davis Islands and has plenty of open space and lots miles of walking. The sand is a dreamy white and the beach is great for off-leash walks and some let their dogs swim in the ocean.
Pass-A-Grille Dog Beach is located on the southernmost tip of St. Pete beach and also happens to be one of Florida’s most historic areas. There is a great dog friendly area and it is surrounded by miles of white sand beaches, amazing views and plenty of things for you to do with your pup by your side. Make sure you bring water with you and some snacks.
Fort De Soto Dog Beach is located on the western most tip of Pinellas County. This dog friendly beach has so much to offer your pup by your side including clean rest room facilities, picnic areas with grills and more than five miles of trails. There may also be off-leash play areas for dogs that will allow them to get their energy out before napping on the beach with you.
De Soto Memorial Park Dog Beach is located at the De Soto County’s Memorial Park in Bradenton. This dog friendly beach has plenty of amenities including a pier, volleyball nets and picnic areas with grills for you to enjoy while spending time with your pup.
The only downside about this place is that there are no off-leash play areas available within the park which means Fido will have to stay on his leash when he isn't swimming in one of the three fenced ponds. It's also important to note that these ponds are not open during all hours so be sure to check before planning your trip!
Bowman’s Dog Beach is located on Anna Maria Island and has everything you could possibly want in a dog friendly beach. This place offers plenty of amenities including off-leash play areas, restrooms with showers, trash receptacles and more than four miles of trails that run along the island’s beaches. What makes this particular dog friendly area so great is that dogs are allowed to be off their leash at any time!
Sunset Beach is located on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge which connects St. Petersburg and Bradenton, giving you access to two beaches in one! This dog friendly beach has plenty of amenities including picnic areas with grills, restrooms with showers and more than four miles of trails that run along the island’s beaches. What makes this particular place so great for dogs is that they are allowed off their leash at any time during your visit!
Brohard Paw Park is located in downtown Tampa and has everything you could possibly want as a dog owner. This place offers plenty of amenities including access to clean restrooms, off-leash play areas like the one pictured above that’s fenced in with an obstacle course for your dogs, picnics areas with grills and more than three miles of trails where your dogs can run free!
Palma Sola Causeway Beach is located on the Palma Sola Causeway which connects Bradenton and Anna Maria Island. The beach itself is divided into three different areas all of which may allow dogs off their leash at any time during your visit. This dog friendly area has plenty to offer you when it comes to amenities including restrooms with showers, trash receptacles and picnic areas with grills!
Honeymoon Island State Park Beach is located just off of the Dunedin Causeway which will give you access to two different dog friendly beaches in one. This place has plenty of amenities including picnic areas with grills, restrooms and showers as well as four miles of trails that run along its pristine beaches!
Picnic Island Beach Dog Park is located on the southern end of Gasparilla Island and has everything you could possibly want as a dog owner. This place offers plenty of amenities including potential off-leash play areas, restrooms with showers, trash bins and more than three miles of trails where your dogs can run free!
Not all beaches allow dogs because of their potential impact on other users or wildlife. However, there are many public beaches in Tampa that do allow dogs. Here is a list of some dog friendly beaches dogs year round except during nesting season above.
